Chapter 27

On the walk back to the Last Gasp Motel, Frank and Banny passed a car pulled over to the side of the road. Behind it was parked a pickup.

“Uh-oh, Accident Al scored again,” Banny said.

Without further comment they passed by as a man, mopping his brow, took out his wallet and handed some bills to Al.

Al thanked the man and limped back to his truck, clutching his wrist, which had a streak of presumably fake blood.

Al spotted them. “You guys want a ride?”

“No thanks,” Frank said. “We’re enjoying the fresh air.”

“Have it your way. I think I’ll cruise the streets a little more.”

Al shot off, almost hitting a bus.
